Friends since childhood, collaborators for decades, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have a new joint project: Animalsa kidnapping thriller obtained by Netflix.
It was Netflix which made the announcement on Thursday, specifying that the film will be produced by Artists Equity (the production studio founded in 2022 by Affleck and Damon), Makeready and Fifth Season. Ben Affleck will direct, and Matt Damon will star.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Animals will immerse viewers in the kidnapping of the son of a mayoral candidate. “Surrounded by numerous enemies, political and otherwise, the husband and wife have no choice but to get their hands dirty to save their son,” it says. Filming could begin in March in Los Angeles.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon won an Oscar in 1998 for their film Good Will Hunting, which they wrote and both starred in. Last year, the duo also appeared in the film Airdistributed by Amazon Studios.
