Animal rights activists demonstrate in Biarritz against Angora rabbit farms

Ten activists from the association for the defense of the animal cause One Voice demonstrated this Sunday afternoon at Place Clémenceau, in Biarritz. Like all the other branches of the association in France, they denounced the living conditions of angora rabbits, very appreciated for their fur, in the hundred farms that exist in France. “These are rabbits who are locked up all their lives in cages”, explains Laurie Vieira, the referent of the Bayonne branch of the association, “and three times a year, they are tied by the legs on a table and depilated alive. When we see the videos and the images, we really want that in 2022 we stop these practices. Fur is not necessary, there are always alternatives to be able to be warmer”.

Videos showing these scenes hint the pained yelps of rabbits. Activists got two petitions signed, one calling for a ban on angora fur and the other for a ban on fur in general.
