We had put aside this disc released at the end of 2021 because of the slightly confined sound atmosphere, like a princely salon. That said, if the recording lacks ventilation, it would be unfair not to draw attention to two things: the excellent quality of the singing of the Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński and the great originality of the program made up of two motets by Zelenka (the second with soprano Fatma Said), from the relevant world premiere of a Laudate Pueri by Gennaro Manna (1715-1779) and airs by Fux, Almeida and Nucci. Anima Aeterna is intended to be a continuation of the record that made Orliński famous in 2018: Anima sacred. We are in both cases in the first half of the XVIIIand century, in the sacred repertoire with the expression of more or less similar sentiments. Orliński has a less light timbre than Philippe Jaroussky. He skillfully draws on this vocal copper for expressive ends, notably in the program’s poignant gem, the aria ” Non t’amo per il ciel » excerpt fromIl Fronte della Salute by Johann Joseph Fux.
