Technical inspection of two-wheelers: angry bikers demonstrate throughout France

(France 2)

Bikers are in the street, Saturday April 13, to oppose the technical inspection of two-wheelers. The FFMC also indicates that it will boycott centers which practice this when checking their cars.

They arrived in their hundreds, on the morning of Saturday April 13 near Calais (Pas-de-Calais), at the call of the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC). They form a procession which will travel more than 50 km towards Dunkirk (North). Like thousands of demonstrators in France, they are demanding the cancellation of the decree establishing technical inspections for motorcycles, scooters and mopeds. From April 15, technical inspections of motorized two-wheelers will be compulsory, but spread over time.

The FFMC calls for a boycott

For vehicles registered before 2017, the check will be carried out in 2024, for those registered in 2017, 2018 or 2019, in 2025, and for those registered more recently, in 2026. The check, to be carried out every three years, will be billed between 50 and 100 euros. The FFMC appealed to the Council of State to have the decree annulled, in vain. She calls today to boycott the technical inspection of motorcycles, but also to favor “car-only centers” by taking their car for technical inspection, as stated by Jean-Marc Belotti, the coordinator of the FFMC Île-de-France.
