“We are doing in 15 days what has perhaps not been done in 15 or 20 years”to respond to the anger of farmers, welcomes Marc Fesneau, Minister of Agriculture, guest of France Bleu Normandie (Seine-Maritime / Eure) Friday February 16 in the morning.

Two weeks after the farmers’ angry movement and a few days before the opening of the Agricultural Show, the agricultural mobilization can resume as before. “I don’t know if something is wrong in particular, it shows an impatience of the agricultural world”estimates Marc Fesneau. “Let us recognize that there are a certain number of subjects that have been on the table for years, sometimes even decades, and what is being expressed is the desire for things to move quickly.”

“In record time”

The government therefore wants to show that it is speeding up the processes to meet farmers’ demands. “We are doing in 15 days what has perhaps not been done in 15 or 20 years”welcomes the minister. “It’s being done in record time.” “We submitted a procedure on the simplification of livestock and water in less than ten days, we are moving very quickly.”

At the national level, four decrees have already appeared, three others will soon be transmitted to the Council of State. They relate to “the simplification of procedures, in particular in terms of breeding and in terms of water installation. There had been procedures for a very long time which meant that the appeal period was four months, we are reducing it to two monthsexplains Marc Fesneau. There were sometimes procedural delays which took 4, 5 or 6 years. The idea is to bring this back within timeframes that are much more reasonable and more consistent with common law.”

But “acceleration does not exclude procedures anyway. It must go to the Council of State to legally secure things”, he warns. The measures will be implemented “within 15 days, three weeks, or a month for some of them. For others it requires a little more time, the agricultural profession knows that. But it is already in the pipeline.”

Time is running out before the Agricultural Show

A few days before the Agricultural Show, the minister assures that a certain number of things “will be done before the Show as we had committed to, including the transmission of the agricultural orientation bill which will deal with questions of installation, training, but also simplification and sovereignty. This will give credibility to our word”he assures.

The Salon is “one moment at a time as a milestone but there is a long work to be done on a certain number of subjects that we will extend beyond the Show. It is a moment of media visibility but everything continues after the Show “concludes Marc Fesneau.
