Angélique Angarni-Filopon, crowned Miss France 2025 at 34, marks a new chapter in the competition, inspiring women to pursue their dreams regardless of age. With a signature short haircut and meaningful tattoos—one honoring a family vacation and another expressing her blessed identity—she embodies individuality. Recent rule changes have made the competition more inclusive, allowing participants over 18 and those with tattoos, while maintaining restrictions on cosmetic surgery and nudity for significant causes.
Angélique Angarni-Filopon: A New Era for Miss France
Angélique Angarni-Filopon stands as a testament to the transformation of the Miss France competition. Previously crowned Miss Martinique, she made history by winning the title of Miss France 2025 at the age of 34, becoming the first woman in her thirties to achieve this honor. In a heartfelt interview, she expressed her pride, stating, “In truth, I am increasingly proud of it,” and added, “I hope this can pave the way for other women who think it’s too late for them.”
Her Unique Style and Meaningful Tattoos
Sharing a common trait with Ève Gilles, the 2024 Miss France who recently handed over her crown, Angélique sports a chic short haircut that she proudly claims as her identity. “The short haircut I sport is my identity, my signature,” she stated. But Angélique’s uniqueness doesn’t stop there; she also flaunts tattoos that tell her personal story.
In a recent appearance on BFM2, Angélique opened up about her two tattoos. The first, an infinity sign on her left wrist, symbolizes a cherished memory from a family vacation in Miami when she was just 20. “I did this with my sister; we went on vacation to Miami,” she recounted. Her second tattoo, located inside her left elbow, reads “En béni,” translating to “I am blessed” in Creole, which she noted references a song by Martiniquan artist Meryl. These tattoos hold deep personal significance for the 34-year-old Miss France.
The Miss France competition has undergone significant changes in its regulations, allowing for a more inclusive environment. Thanks to Alexia Laroche-Joubert, the rules were updated at the end of 2022, enabling women over 18 to participate. Previously, the age limit was set at 25, which would have excluded Angélique and others like her.
Alexia Laroche-Joubert clarified the new criteria in 2022, stating, “To participate, you must be a woman according to civil status. That’s all we check. For the rest, we won’t look in the participants’ underwear. For all we know, there may have already been transgender contestants in previous years.” This shift not only opens doors for older contestants but also allows those with tattoos to compete. The remaining restrictions focus on cosmetic surgery, which is only permitted for reconstructive purposes, and stipulate that contestants should not have posed nude unless for a significant cause, such as raising awareness for breast cancer.
