Angelica Ross, first trans woman to play on Broadway

Actress Angelica Ross will become the first trans woman to play a leading role on Broadway next Monday.

Ross will portray Roxie Hart in the musical Chicagowhich is presented at the Ambassador Theater in New York.

In recent years, Broadway stages have become increasingly open to trans actors. L Morgan Lee also made history recently by becoming the first trans actress to be nominated for the Tony Awards.

Angelica Ross previously held roles in the series Laid, American Horror Story: 1984 and Transparent.
