The world number 5 was beaten in the first round on Monday by Ajla Tomljanovic.
Another exit from the track for a top 10 player. After Barbora Krejcikova, Ons Jabeur and Garbine Muguruza, Anett Kontaveit is the fourth member of the top 10 to take the door in the first round. The Estonian was beaten, Monday, May 23, in 1h52 by the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic (7-6 [7-5], 7-5). The latter took the serve of her opponent at the best moment in the second set to join the second round of Roland-Garros.
Kontaveit however obtained more break points than Tomljanović in the match (8 against 5) but was less effective. The Australian, who reached the round of 16 in her first appearance at Roland-Garros in 2014, reaches the second round where she will face Varvara Gracheva.
