The Ontarian didn’t like Jacob Trouba’s shot at Jujhar Khaira at all in a game between the New York Rangers and the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. The Illinois forward had lost the puck in his own skates when the organization’s Big Apple defenseman threw him hard in the upper body, near the head.

Khaira immediately fell on the ice, visibly unconscious, and was taken out on a stretcher.

“Are we going to see you protecting your players or are you going to just point the finger at Jujhar by mentioning that he put himself in this position like you have done with me on numerous occasions?” Shaw wrote on his Twitter account.

The one who amassed 247 points in 544 games in the Bettman circuit also responded to several Internet users who believe that the contact was legal.

Shaw himself ended his career in April, when he was barely 29, due to too many concussions he suffered.

For his part, Trouba had mentioned after the game that it was not his intention to injure Khaira, who even contacted the Blackhawks player to inquire about his condition. The latter’s name was placed on the injured list as he had to go through the National League concussion protocol, but was released from hospital the day after the game.
