The 47-year-old had been forced to watch his team’s last four games from his living room, including Monday night’s victory against the Montreal Canadiens. Tourigny is in his first season at the helm of the “Yotes” in 2021-2022. He was previously vice-president of hockey operations and head coach of the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
The Coyotes will also be able to count on the return to play of defenseman Jakob Chychrun, who has been out since December 10 due to an injury and COVID-19.
Considered by many to be the Arizona club’s best hockey player, the guard has two goals and five assists for seven points in 26 games so far this season. He also maintained a differential of -29.
Tourigny’s squad begin a four-game road trip Wednesday night when they take on the New Jersey Devils. With a record of 9-24-4, the “Yotes” occupy the penultimate rank of the general classification of the NHL, just ahead of the Habs.
