Anaheim Ducks | Scott Niedermayer becomes Special Advisor to Hockey Operations

(Anaheim) Former defenseman and Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer joins Ducks management as special advisor to hockey operations.

Anaheim club general manager Pat Verbeek announced the new role on Tuesday.

“He is a winner and his exceptional hockey sense will benefit all of our players and staff,” Verbeek said.

Niedermayer captained the Ducks in their lone Stanley Cup in 2007, also being named playoff MVP that year.

He spent his last five seasons with Anaheim, until his retirement in 2010.

Niedermayer is the Ducks’ all-time leading scorer with 264 points. He set a team record in 2006-07 with 69 points.

Niedermayer played 18 NHL seasons with the New Jersey Ducks and Devils.

He lifted the Stanley Cup four times, in addition to winning a Norris Trophy. His number 27 is retired for both the Devils and the Ducks.
