The Bellac courthouse has become a media library…
Remember, it was a little over ten years ago: following the reform of the judicial map wanted by Rachida Dati, in France, 178 courts closed their courtrooms.
In Haute-Vienne, three district courts disappeared: that of Rochechouart, Saint-Yrieix and Bellac which was then transformed into a media library and a third place.
…then partially became a court again.
Since 2021, the court has once again hosted criminal hearings, not open to the public. A step back which is being carried out under the impetus of the law of April 8, 2021, concerning local justice.
Hearings that relate only to offenses of “medium intensity” and which make it possible to render justice closer and faster.
But a court stripped of its old prison door!
