In republican responsibility”added the President of the Republic.

“We have never hidden the fact that we do not want the National Assembly to be presided over by the New Popular Front”said Ian Boucard, Republican Right MP for the Territoire de Belfort, on franceinfo. “We had a choice to make between a communist deputy, a member of the New Popular Front, and Mrs Braun-Pivet. We therefore voted for Mrs Braun-Pivet.”

The left deplores an “unnatural alliance” and “coup de force”

Communist MP André Chassaigne denounced this during a press briefing “a vote that was stolen by an unnatural alliance”The defeated candidate for the presidency of the National Assembly points to the deputies of the Republican right who have, “by a combination, allowed to change nothing while the people were waiting for it to change”The communist says to himself “proud” that the New Popular Front has “led this united fight” and be it “put on a single candidate”. “We fought a great fight with a great result. And we will continue in this direction, united as we are.”adds the MP.

“At the cost of a secret agreement with LR, the counterparts of which we will discover, of circumventing the Constitution by having 17 ministers vote, the candidate for the Elysée finds the perch after three successive defeats in the European and legislative elections. The height of democratic denial”tweeted the First Secretary of the Socialist Party (PS), Olivier Faure.

“Anger and sadness”reacted Thursday on franceinfo Aurélie Trouvé, LFI-NFP deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis. “This is very sad news for democracy.” Aurélie Trouvé would like to point out that Emmanuel Macron “and his party lost first the European elections, then the legislative elections, simply because the French people, for the most part, no longer want this policy which destroys social rights and which is carried out in the service of the richest and multinationals”.

“What we want is to govern as quickly as possible by being the leading force in the National Assembly. This has just been stolen from us.”

Aurélie Trouvé, LFI-NFP MP for Seine-Saint-Denis

“I think things are clear: LR has therefore made a pact with Macron’s party to allow it to stay in power.”

Sébastien Chenu, member of parliament for the National Rally

to the National Assembly

“Bravo to Sébastien Chenu, who represented with great dignity the 11 million French people who voted for the National Rally and its allies”declared on X Marine Le Pen, president of the RN group in the National Assembly. Far from the schemes between the far left, the Macronists and the LR, who formed unnatural alliances three weeks ago to perpetuate those who have failed, we will continue to defend the French and the interests of our country.”

“My right-wing opponents have chosen to become the lifeline of a power that is drifting and discredited like never before”reacted Éric Ciotti, deputy of the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes, after the re-election of the Macronist Yaël Braun-Pivet to the presidency of the National Assembly.
