An STM bus embedded in a building after a collision

A Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus found itself stuck in a building after a spectacular collision Thursday morning in the La Petite-Patrie district.

Around 5:25 a.m., the STM bus was traveling westbound on rue Beaubien Ouest, near rue Clark, which was being taken at the same time by a vehicle traveling southbound.

One of the two vehicles ran the red light, causing an accident that the bus driver tried to avoid to crash into a building.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, according to Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

Residents of the building were evacuated by firefighters, pending the arrival of engineers who will analyze the structure of the building.

These residents were welcomed on a bus to stay warm, added the SPVM spokesperson, adding that no passenger was on board the bus at the time of the accident.
