An outbreak strikes the radiology team at Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis

(Quebec) A Christmas dinner “carried out in accordance with the instructions” led to a major outbreak at the Hôtel-Dieu in Lévis.

The CISSS de Chaudière-Appalaches confirms that 27 members of the radiology team tested positive for COVID-19. The withdrawal of these employees is a blow to the radiology unit of the hospital, which totals 80 people.

“The infected employees are all taken out of work and isolated at home. Everything follows a Christmas gathering, however, carried out in accordance with the instructions in force at the time, ”indicates a spokesperson for the CISSS, Mireille Gaudreau.

Some services deemed non-urgent had to be postponed. But the CISSS ensures “to be able to maintain all services to users”.

“We are also already working to open service corridors with establishments in the National Capital to transfer users, if however we needed it, which is not currently the case,” adds Mr.me Gaudreau.

The number of COVID-19 cases has increased sharply in recent days in Chaudière-Appalaches. As of Thursday, the region announced 284 new cases.
