The first complaints date back to 2018. An osteopath from Pontarlier (Doubs) was indicted on Friday July 21 for seven rapes and nineteen sexual assaults on patients, announced the public prosecutor of Besançon, Etienne Manteaux. Some of the victims claim to have been subjected to acts of sexual penetration.
“The 32-year-old osteopath directly challenges all the charges brought against him by his own patients. But in light of this file, the Besançon prosecutor’s office considered that there were sufficient charges against this osteopath” said the prosecutor. The investigating magistrate must render his decision as to the holding of a trial before the departmental criminal court, “by the end of summer”continued Etienne Manteaux.
Placed under judicial control, the practitioner can no longer appear in Pontarlier and practice his profession. Describing himself in a state of amazement, “IThe plaintiffs no longer knew how to distinguish between the therapeutic aspect and sexual violence”, according to the prosecutor. All the victims did not constitute themselves as civil parties, but will testify at the trial.
