Cinema: an Oscar for French gastronomy?
Cinema: an Oscar for French gastronomy? – (France 2)
“The Passion of Dodin Bouffant” was chosen by France to represent it at the Oscars. A film that celebrates French gastronomy and is released in theaters on Wednesday November 8.
A word of advice: don’t go see this film on an empty stomach, you risk getting hungry very quickly. Inspired by a novel, The passion of Dodin Bouffant engages all our senses. Here, the dishes simmer, simmer, brown and smoke. For a little, we could almost perceive the smells.
It is a true ode to gastronomy which could not leave the students of this prestigious cooking school near Lyon (Rhône) indifferent.
An incentive to stand out
That day, a gunshot atmosphere like in a real restaurant. The apprentices take part in a competition around Dodin Bouffant’s dishes, under the watchful eye of star chef Pierre Gagnaire, an extra and consultant on the film. The students have two hours to reproduce two recipes from the film. For students, it is an incentive, like in the film, to stand out.
