An investigation has been opened concerning the registration on the electoral lists in Paris of Sandrine Rousseau, invested for the legislative elections of 2022 and then elected deputy, the prosecution reported on Monday July 10. This decision follows the complaint of the activist Europe Ecology-The Greens (EELV) Claire Monod, for “undue registration on an electoral list by fraudulent declaration or false certificate”. The investigation was entrusted to the Brigade for the repression of delinquency against persons, said the prosecution, confirming information from Paris Match.

“Let justice do its job. It’s very good”, reacted the environmentalist parliamentarian. One of her lawyers, Elodie Tuaillon-Hibon, added that the deputy denied “firmly the malicious allegations made against him”. “We hope that the investigation will be rapid, so that all the light is shed on the conditions of the election of Sandrine Rousseau”underlined Jérôme Karsenti, lawyer for Claire Monod.

A certificate for a dwelling in which she did not live

Claire Monod’s candidacy for the nomination for the EELV legislative elections in 2022 had been rejected in favor of that of Sandrine Rousseau, while the latter “lives, works and has been active in Lille since the 2000s”, according to the complaint. According to France 2’s “Complément d’Enquête” investigative magazine, Sandrine Rousseau provided the town hall of the 13th arrondissement with a certificate of insurance for a dwelling in which she was not living on March 1, 2022, three days before the closure of registrations on the electoral lists and validation of nominations by EELV.

This document was drawn up by an acquaintance at the request of Sandrine Rousseau, is it detailed in the complaint. “There was a sublet project because it was a furnished apartment”but “finally I settled in an unfurnished apartment because subletting was not possible”Sandrine Rousseau defended herself on the show.

This registration allowed him to “feign an anchorage in the 13th arrondissement” and to be invested by the authorities of EELV, according to the complaint. The MP ended up signing a lease in mid-April for a studio located in this borough.
