It is by dint of being asked for objects seen in their homes, where they design many custom-made elements, that the partners have decided to offer a selection of them on their website. “We said to ourselves that there was still a demand, explains Francis Rollin, founder of the workshop. And it’s true that some of these items are hard to find made here. »
Even if the shop had existed for a while already, but in an informal way, the official launch took place very recently, when L’atelier released its stools. “That’s really an object that we always get asked for when we design kitchens or houses,” he continues. We said to ourselves: we take advantage of it and we launch the online store for real, with the objects that we had put over time. »
There are therefore two types of stools (“In all honesty, we couldn’t connect to a model!”), which went to join the terrazzo coffee tables, the audio cabinet, the vinyl rack, the desk , the shelf and the “bookholders”.
In another style, earrings are also offered — made with antique hardwood floor nails — as well as a selection of original, reupholstered Eames chairs. Since Francis had been collecting them for a long time, that’s how the idea came to him. “It’s the only object a little out of our creation on the shop. But I find that it ‟fits” with what we do, curiously”, he adds.
All objects are made by hand, on request, in the Verchères workshop. Delivery is also offered. Note that it is possible to customize the furniture that you acquire. “People can always choose their color of base or structure, their essence and, in many cases, even their dimensions, specifies Francis Rollin. Yes, it’s standardized, but at the same time, it’s almost tailor-made. »
