A rave party is underway on Saturday January 1 in an old factory in Saint-Florentin, in Yonne, reports France Bleu Auxerre. 1,500 revelers are gathered to celebrate the New Year, specifies the prefecture of Yonne in a press release this Saturday in the middle of the morning. “To preserve public order and public health, this gathering must end”, insists the prefect who issued a decree prohibiting these undeclared gatherings. An investigation was opened by the public prosecutor of Auxerre to “unlawful organization of a festive musical gathering”.
The revelers gathered on Friday evening in a parking lot of a shopping center in Migennes before reaching the site of the former Sicli fire extinguisher manufacturing plant, located in the Saunière industrial zone. “Around 500 vehicles illegally occupy the exterior part of an industrial site”, specifies the prefecture which opened a departmental operational center. The rally was still underway at 3 p.m.
A large gendarmerie device has been on site since midnight, to secure the surroundings of the site and the traffic routes. “A security perimeter has been installed and alcohol and narcotics checks are underway”, continues the prefecture. “A helicopter from the national gendarmerie flies over the site to help secure the area”, indicates the prefecture.
The Yonne prefecture finally explains that a Sdis medical aid station has been opened on site and that the Red Cross is also present with 30 volunteers.
