An Olympic champion launches a kitty to rebuild a dojo in the Dordogne after bad weather

The Ribérac dojo, like all municipal buildings, homes and businesses, were very hard hit by the bad weather on Monday January 20th. These violent hailstorms affected 46 towns in the northwest of the Dordogne. To help the Ribérac dojo, Olympic champion Guillaume Chaine launched an online kitty this Tuesday, June 28.

The president of the Ribérac judo club is still in shock from the damage. With the health crisis, the club had fallen to 30 licensees before rising to 65 members. With bad weather, the dojo is unusable as it is explains Chairman Rémy Drouot: “I have the dojo in front of me, everything is devastated and I’ve been there for more than 20 years”.

Guillaume Chaine was sensitive to the club’s situation. The judoka is not from Dordogne but his parents live in Saint-Astier and know the Ribérac dojo. _”I know the difficulty for the clubs […] I know that the insurance companies are picky in their contracts and I have two judokas from the Fra team.nce who responded to this call” explains Guillaume Chaine.
