An off-duty policeman was stabbed on Sunday, November 28, around 6:40 p.m. at the Italie 2 shopping center, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, franceinfo learned from a police source. The official was admitted in absolute urgency to the Henri Mondor hospital in Créteil. Its vital prognosis is engaged.

The grievor was with his partner when he got into an argument with two individuals. According to a source familiar with the matter, the couple were kissing when two young people approached and made derogatory remarks. The police officer then sheltered his companion in the shopping center before explaining himself outside with the group of young people.

It was at this point that one of them drew a bladed weapon and stabbed the policeman in the stomach. The officer then took out his service weapon and the two individuals fled.

An investigation was opened for “attempted murder”, Franceinfo learned from a judicial source on Sunday evening. This investigation was entrusted to the 3rd district of judicial police. At around 8:40 p.m., an individual was arrested, a source close to the case also tells us.

In a tweet, the Paris police headquarters “gives his full support to the DSPAP policeman off duty seriously injured by stabbing following a dispute”, and explains that “the perpetrators of this assault are actively sought.”

“All my support for the police officer stabbed in Paris while he was off duty. He is seriously injured. An investigation has been opened and all means are being used to find the perpetrators of this unbearable act”, also reacted the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, on Twitter.
