The nursing home at Saint-Jean hospital, in Briare (Loiret), was searched on Friday April 8, reveals France Bleu Orléans. The establishment is the subject of a preliminary investigation for manslaughter opened by the Montargis prosecutor’s office after complaints from the families of two residents who died last January.

According to France Bleu Orléans, one of these two deceased residents was in a state of thinness and showed signs of dehydration as well as purple marks on the body. Families fear a lack, or even an absence, of care. During the search, the gendarmes of the Montargis research brigade, seized of the investigation, sought to get their hands on the medical files of the Saint-Jean hospital.

The nursing home concerned has 65 beds, a medical service, a rehabilitation service and a long-term care unit. Considered as a private non-profit establishment, it is managed as an association by the Bapterosses-Hôpital Saint-Jean association.
