The Renaissance project includes the purchase and installation of a new particleboard press and finishing line, as well as the construction of buildings that will be used for shipping. It should make it possible to consolidate 189 jobs on the site, in addition to creating 26 others, indicated the office of the Minister of Economy and Innovation in a press release.

Work will begin this summer and commissioning of the new press is scheduled for early 2025, the company said.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation granted a loan of 78 million to the project through the Essor program, managed by Investissement Québec, while the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks provided a grant of 2.5 million from the Wood Innovation Program.

Founded in 1982, Uniboard Canada specializes in the manufacture of engineered wood products. The Laval-based company has 851 employees in Quebec, working in four plants, in Val-d’Or, Sayabec and Mont-Laurier, as well as at its head office in Laval.
