A dislocated concrete frame. The installation supposed to support the future Toulouse metro line (Haute-Garonne) collapsed in a few seconds on Monday March 4. Very close to the construction site, witnesses heard a huge crash. Four workers were high up on the structure at the time of the accident. They were at a “ten meters high”specified the public prosecutor of Toulouse, Samuel Vuelta-Simon.
A construction site at a standstill
The workers did not have time to react when one of the concrete slabs collapsed before deforming, causing the entire installation to fall. The report shows one dead and three injured, two of them seriously. A gendarmerie patrol raised the alarm after hearing the explosion. The scene would have been chaotic, says a commander who witnessed the accident. Why did this part of the viaduct collapse? Several investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the accident. The construction site is at a standstill until further notice.
