She is now one of the best-known faces of the opposition to Vladimir Putin. The Paris prosecutor’s office announced on Thursday October 12 that it had opened an investigation into a “suspicion of poisoning” of Russian journalist Marina Ovsiannikova. Taking refuge in the French capital, the television presenter says she felt unwell in the afternoon when she opened the door to her apartment and discovered powder. Samples were being taken at his home.

In March 2022, Marina Ovsiannikova appeared live on the set of the most watched television news in Russia brandishing a sign denouncing the invasion of Ukrainian territory. She was also prosecuted for having demonstrated in front of the Kremlin on July 15, accusing Vladimir Putin of being a “assassin”.

It was the NGO Reporters Without Borders which organized her clandestine departure from her country in October 2022, while she was under house arrest, with an electronic bracelet. “We used seven vehicles successively and, before the border, we got stuck in a field”then told the 44-year-old journalist.
