After various cases of hospitalizations and deaths following the consumption of Buitoni pizzas, the Paris prosecutor’s office has decided to open a judicial investigation for homicides and involuntary injuries, endangering the lives of others and deception on the goods.
The Buitoni factory in Caudry (Nord) is still closed, Friday May 13, following a prefectural order. Many shortcomings were found. Pinned for a risk of salmonella proliferation, rodents had also been discovered as well as a lack of cleaning of the various work spaces. Following such elements, the parents of the victims are demanding that the sale of Buitoni brand products be stopped.
An investigation for homicides and involuntary injuries, endangering the lives of others and deception on the goods will be carried out under the direction of an investigating judge. The opening of this judicial investigation will allow the various civil parties in the case to be able to consult the documents in the file. They hope to obtain information on the production chain and an explanation of these food poisonings. For the moment, only the “Fraich’Up” range is concerned, even if other complaints have been filed against other articles of the brand.
