The Public Prosecutor of Auch (Gers) has decided to open investigation of the head of “professional animal abuse” after the broadcast of a video from the L214 association targeting the activities of a duck farm.
A few days before the opening of the agricultural show in Paris, the association for the defense of animals L214 unveiled a new survey in the Gers. In particular, we see a force-feeding room where nearly 2,000 ducks are locked up. Waterfowl live in collective metal cages. According to the association, the grid floor leads to lesions under the legs Ducks. These wounds then degenerate into infection and can cause inflammatory edema.
L214 also denounces the density inside the cages who “do not allow animals to spread their wings, which is a requirement of the regulations”, denounces a press release. The association is also concerned about the conditions for transporting birds from the force-feeding rooms to the slaughterhouse: the boxes, too low, would not comply with the law. What’s more “in the stacked transport boxes, nothing is done to prevent the urine and faeces of the ducks from flowing onto those placed on the lower levels“, continues the organization.
