An investigation opened after the death of a nonagenarian in an nursing home near Avignon

A 94-year-old woman was found dead on the evening of Saturday May 11 in her room in a nursing home in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, in Gard, reports France Bleu Vaucluse. An investigation is underway for “intentional violence leading to death without intention of causing it”, indicates the Nîmes public prosecutor’s office.

Staff members of this nursing home discovered the resident’s lifeless body on Saturday evening, before calling the police around 10 p.m. The residents and staff are currently being questioned by the police. Video surveillance images are being used.
