A man claims to have been attacked on Friday March 1 late in the afternoon in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, franceinfo learned from reliable sources on Saturday. On his X account, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin writes that “according to the first elements”It’s about a “new anti-Semitic aggression”. For its part, the Paris prosecutor’s office does not confirm, for the moment, the anti-Semitic nature of the attack.

The victim, who was wearing a kippah, was leaving the synagogue when she was punched and kicked by an individual and called a “dirty Jew”, indicates a source close to the investigation. The suspect then fled on foot. He is still wanted. The prosecution confirms “the attack on a man wearing a yarmulke who was leaving a synagogue”. He adds that “the complaint is in progress”. From a source close to the investigation, the victim was transported to the Parisian Croix Saint-Simon hospital. An investigation is open, indicates a police source.

The Minister of the Interior assures that “everything is being done to find the author of this unspeakable act”. He adds that “the prefects have since reinforced [vendredi] surveillance of places frequented by our Jewish compatriots who must not be victims of the tragedies taking place in the Middle East”in reference to the war between Israel and Hamas.
