A 16 year old teenager has was arrested after announcing his intention to make an explosive belt “with a view to dying as a martyr”, Franceinfo learned from the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) on Wednesday April 24, confirming information from Le Parisien. An investigation was opened by the head of “participation in a terrorist criminal association with a view to preparing crimes of attacks against persons”.

The current custody of the young person from Haute-Savoie aims to determine, with regard to the personality of the person in custody, “the reality of the planned terrorist act and, if applicable, its state of completion” said the Pnat. The investigations were entrusted to thehe general directorate of internal security (DGSI).
