A model bearing the image of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron was burned Thursday evening in front of the Calvados prefecture in Caen to denounce “police violence” during the demonstration in Sainte-Soline, reports France Bleu Normandie on Friday March 31. The public prosecutor of Caen indicates “that an investigation will be opened”. The prefecture had reported this fact to the Caen prosecutor’s office.

This three-meter-high straw effigy was brandished by demonstrators throughout the demonstration, before being set on fire in front of the prefecture at the end of the rally, to the applause of the crowd. No incidents with law enforcement have been reported.

In mid-March, a mannequin bearing the image of Emmanuel Macron was also burned in Dijon (Côte-d’Or). The prefect of the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region had indicated his intention to file a complaint “on behalf of the State.”
