Wednesday, December 15, Emmanuel Macron was interviewed on TF1 and LCI, in particular to take stock of his five-year term. Back on the economic sequences to remember but also on the overall attitude of the Head of State in this political sequence.
Thus, Emmanuel Macron posed as “president of the after-sales service”, in particular to defend the economic situation: a level of unemployment at the lowest for 15 years, a growth which he considers to be at the rendezvous, few business failures … He also endeavored to defend the various reforms carried out over five years, such as unemployment insurance, apprenticeship or the withholding tax.
He also endeavored to project himself, without announcing his candidacy. He returned in particular to the burning issue of pensions, to justify the abandonment of the reform in order not to lose his label of reforming president. Showing his regret at not having been able to carry out this reform to the end, he drew up the outlines of the reform he would like to see carried out, very different from that sketched out at the time by Edouard Philippe. Thus, exit the universal system, place with a system with three regimes: civil servants, private employees, independent.
Overall, Emmanuel Macron wanted to get closer to the French and erase the image of president of the rich, which sticks to his skin. He has indeed praised the merits of his purchasing power policies and has positioned himself as a defender of public services, far from the defender of the “start-up nation” that he was in 2017.
