A 25-year-old inmate died at the Pau remand center on Monday April 15 after a fire in his cell, reports France Bleu Béarn Bigorre. The man, “probably died as a result of the fire (…) was alone in his cell when the fire broke out, after 5 p.m.”indicated the public prosecutor of Pau, Rodolphe Jarry.
An investigation has been opened, entrusted to the Pau police station, and an autopsy, with toxicological analyses, will be carried out in the coming days at the Toulouse forensic institute, after an initial examination on the scene by a forensic doctor, added the prosecutor.
