Tuesday May 14 marks the Independence Day of the State of Israel, in the context of the war against Hamas. A celebration which follows the day of remembrance which paid tribute to the soldiers who died for the country and to the victims of attacks.

The ceremonies in Israel take place in a particularly tense context on Tuesday May 14. Seven months after the October 7 attacks, and while the IDF is bombing the Gaza Strip, in Rafah and in the north of the territory, Israelis attended commemorations against the backdrop of the war against Hamas.

This date of May 14 aims to commemorate the creation of the Hebrew state in 1948, 76 years ago. In Tel Aviv (Israel), thousands of Israelis gathered in Hostages Square. While it is customary for Israelis to have large meals to celebrate this holiday, due to recent events, some residents have not had the heart to celebrate. Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated that Turkey does not consider Hamas to be a terrorist group. The Turkish head of state called Hamas “resistance organization”.
