From 1er December, the Cinémathèque québécoise will dedicate an important cycle to Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg. All his feature films will be presented for the occasion, mostly in 35mm. Two exhibitions devoted to his art will complete the cycle.
“The work of David Cronenberg is a cinema of inner fold, where the singular beings who compose it constantly show the world under a distorting mirror”, one suggests in a press release to summarize his work.
The cycle will start on 1er December with the presentation of Stereo, 1969 film set in the near future where young volunteers with telepathic skills are brought to participate in various sexual experiences.
18 other Cronenberg films will follow to be seen until January 16. Among other things, we will be able to see or see again Crash, Exist, Cosmopolis, Scanners, The Fly, The Naked Lunch, etc.
Two exhibitions complete the cycle. From December 9 to February 13, we will see House of Skin, an installation with monumental video by artist Sabrina Ratté freely inspired by the atmosphere and themes explored by Cronenberg in his cinema.
And from December 2 to February 6, the exhibition Parasites and addictions will be devoted to a series of posters, photographs and other artefacts from the Cinémathèque québécoise collections devoted to Cronenberg cinema.
