an implacable Konaté-Upamecano duo, Camavinga as an accelerator … The notes of the Blues after France-Greece

From Mike Maignan to Kylian Mbappé, a look back at the performances of the players of the France team during their success against Greece on Monday.

The French team concluded its 2022-2023 season with a victory. The Blues logically overcame Greece (1-0), Monday June 19, at the Stade de France. With four wins in as many matches, Didier Deschamps’ players continued their flawless run in Group B of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Above all, they showed a completely different state of mind than during their bland performance against in Gibraltar three days earlier. The central hinge Upamecano-Konaté once again brought satisfaction and Eduardo Camavinga scored points.

Mike Maignan: 6/10

Two balloons to capture and then that’s it. Always as comfortable on foot, even when his teammates do not give him a gift, he offers a lot of serenity to his defenders.

Jules Kounde: 6/10

Often shy, the Barcelonan has very often exceeded his duties on Monday. He got the best chance of the first period by taking a good cross from Coman with a volley, but his recovery lacked conviction.

Ibrahima Konate: 8/10

A boss match behind. Authoritarian in his duels, lucid in his reading of ball trajectories, he systematically defeated the Greek offensives.

Dayot Upamecano: 7/10

His association with Konaté is now well established. A new solid performance, but slightly less effective in his interventions than his partner in the central hinge.

Theo Hernandez: 4/10

The only player to have been a tone below. The Milanese left side existed little and was less sharp than his teammates in his defensive interventions, like the humiliation suffered against Baldock (48th).

Aurelien Tchouameni: 6/10

A new keystone service. Clean, but without shine.

Eduardo Camavinga: 7/10

The big winner of this gathering. He got what he wanted by recovering a place in the middle and took his chance. His ability to put France right side up by speeding up the game created a bond on a night when the options were limited, against a very tightly-knit team. Also a lot of slaughter in his area (17 duels, match record, and 101 balls touched).

Antoine Griezmann: 6/10

Not the evening where he will have shone the most. Discreet, because marked in the pants by Siopis most of the time, it was still him who got the penalty, with courage, remaining in the game despite a very dangerous kick from Mavropanos in the face (49th). Replaced by Christopher Nkunku (86th).

Kingsley Coman: 6/10

In line with his performance against Gibraltar, the Bavarian winger offered a lot in his right lane. He is at the origin of the first tricolor shot on target and made the difference on the action which causes the expulsion of the Greek defender. Replaced by a twirling but rough Ousmane Dembélé (77th).

Randal Kolo Muani: 5.5/10

Often found as an anchor, he played a lot (and played well) in first intention and never hid. It is he who provokes the expulsion of Mavropanos after having overtaken him. But he goes on for a fifth meeting in a row without scoring with the Blues. Replaced by Olivier Giroud (86th).

Kylian Mbappe: 6.5/10

Sufficient against Gibraltar, the captain of the Blues was much more involved. Not rewarded for the multiple combinations in the area, he did not demobilize despite the accumulation of unfavorable refereeing decisions. He scored the only goal of the game on a penalty he was able to withdraw after a first attempt repelled by Vlachodimos (55th). His 54th goal in 2022-2023, club and selection combined, a record for a French player.
