An extreme risk of recidivism | A quasi-psychopath sentenced for an assault in the subway

A quasi-psychopath who sexually assaulted a woman in the corridor of the Montreal metro is so dangerous that he scores a score of 6 on a risk of recidivism scale of… 5. Luckenson Bernard Blanc was sentenced to 30 months in prison, then declared a long-term offender.

“This is a sexual assault committed on an innocent woman in a public place, which is very disturbing,” summed up Judge Josée Bélanger Friday at the Montreal courthouse. Upon his release from prison, Luckenson Bernard Blanc will be subject to strict conditions under a 10-year long-term supervision order.

One morning in February 2021, Luckenson Bernard Blanc attacked a woman who came out of the metro, at De L’Eglise station, on the green line. In a secluded hallway, the perpetrator pushed the victim against the wall and began to touch her genitals. The woman struggled screaming, alerting passers-by.

If Luckenson Bernard Blanc was caught, it is thanks to his DNA found on the mask of the victim. The sexual aggressor was not his first victim. He was sentenced to prison in 2012 for sexually assaulting a woman. And that’s not counting about fifteen various charges in recent years.

The experts paint an extremely disturbing portrait of Luckenson Bernard Blanc. Indeed, the 39-year-old man obtains very high scores in all the tests to assess the level of dangerousness and the risk of recidivism. On a test designed to assess the risk of physical or sexual violence, he scores higher than 97.3% of offenders. At this level, the recidivism rate is 87% over 12 years.

In addition to his “very higher than average” risk of recidivism, Judge Bélanger also noted the “very low” level of introspection of the accused. The latter presented a “confused” version of the sexual assault. The judge points out that the accused “probably” has a schizoaffective disorder.

Crown prosecutor M.e Anna Levin points out that Luckenson Bernard Blanc is not technically considered a psychopath, “but comes close”, according to experts.

By virtue of the time served in preventive detention, there are 22 months remaining on the sentence imposed on the accused. He was represented by Mr.e Louis Morena.
