How can you attract young people and their parents to a Renaissance castle by promising them a fun exhibition on the history of art, from ancient Egypt to the present day? By calling on Jean-Philippe Broussin, one of France’s largest private Playmobil collectors, who specializes in the creation of exhibitions and events. It was he who designed the exhibition “From Fine Arts to Playmo’Art”.

In the majestic setting of the Château d’Ancy-le-Franc, in Yonne, a jewel of the Renaissance, he staged the major stages of the history of art on 700 m2. Evocation of the pyramids, reconstruction of a scene from Molière, meeting with Vincent Van Gogh or Leonardo da Vinci, the visitor reviews the major artistic movements.

These thousands of Playmobils displayed in several rooms of the castle did not arrive there by chance. It was a two-year project that came to fruition and countless hours to bring this original historical frieze to life.

“It’s a theme that was close to our hearts. Succeeding in sharing art in another form that is accessible to children is perfect”rejoices Aurore Gely, who works at the Château d’Ancy-le-Franc and who is always looking for new ideas to attract a wider audience. “This type of exhibition allows several generations to be reached, children benefit from it and parents or grandparents are also happy to be able to visit the castle”.

For the castle teams, this temporary exhibition is a fun gateway to make you want to discover the rest of this Renaissance palace, which also houses one of the most beautiful collections of wall paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries.
