An auction of customs treasures took place on Friday, November 4 in Bercy. Precious stones, luxury watches and even Napoleon pieces were presented.

High-end bags, python pumps, 14 platinum ingots seized at the Gare du Nord, diamonds… Behind these objects, there is a story worthy of a thriller. All were confiscated and are auctioned, Friday, November 4, by customs, in Bercy. In the audience, there are many curious people. Here, the essentials are luxury watches. Against competition, “we’re going to have to fight a little”says a buyer.

In the room, each blow of the hammer increases the tension a little more. The buyers fight over the objects until the evening. Are sold at auction “350 bundles” with a total value “700,000 euros”explains Alain Caumeil, of the national direction of state interventions. “We hope to reach the million, it is a prognosis perhaps a little ambitious”, he adds. A sum that should help bail out the state budget.
