Despite his smile and his joie de vivre, Loïc Nottet has not only known good times during his life. The man who offered fourth place to Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015, became known to the French a few months later. In fact, he participates in “Dance with the stars” which he won hands down with Denitsa Ikonomova on TF1.
For a moment, the 27-year-old artist was discreet. To work better, some would say, to hide his discomfort, others would say. A malaise that he also wrote and “screamed” in his title “Mr/Mrs” released in 2020. A piece in which the dancer and singer has “‘gross’, in quotes, whatever [il avait en lui] and [accumulait] for quite some time”. “Rereading the text, I realized that I was humming it. This is where the melody was born”he confided about the piece to 20 minutes.

Loïc Nottet, victim of the same disorder as Stromae?
This Wednesday, May 17, in the columns of Cinema-TV-Review, Loïc Nottet once again spoke of this past malaise and the deep depression he had to face. While our colleagues devoted a special issue to the setbacks of Stromae, forced to put an end to his tour, the ex-winner of “Dance with the stars” was asked about the risks of burnout for an artist.
“I brushed against it twice. For several weeks, I had no taste for anything, I wanted to stop everything, I no longer wanted to get out of bed or eat. I put so much pressure on myself that It’s really tiring me mentally.”confides the young artist bluntly before letting go, in all honesty: “I’ve even felt like dying. People don’t always imagine all the work that goes into an album and a concert”.
If this depression is now part of the past, Loïc Nottet is now careful not to overload himself with work, under penalty of falling back into this dark period.
