An ex-clown who has already claimed three victims is accused of sexual assault on two children

A former children’s party clown already sentenced to prison for having sexually assaulted three children has just been accused of having assaulted two other little girls in the 90s. Julien Bouchard was released on conditions Thursday at the courthouse in Longueuil.

The 64-year-old Laval resident faces four counts of sexual assault and sexual contact with two children under the age of 14 between 1996 and 1998 in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. The two little girls were children of his entourage.

Targeted by an arrest warrant on January 15, Julien Bouchard appeared detained Thursday afternoon at the Longueuil courthouse.

This is not Julien Bouchard’s first run-in with the law. In the mid-90s, he attacked three children in the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield area. His victims were the children of friends or relatives.

He pleaded guilty to several counts of sexual contact in June 1999 at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse. He was sentenced to six months in prison and two years’ probation, according to information in the computerized docket.

Julien Bouchard would therefore have caused five victims in just a few years in the 1990s.

According to our information, Julien Bouchard was increasing the number of jobs at this time that could put him in contact with minors. He notably acted as a clown for children’s parties. But that’s not all. He was also a singer in religious celebrations and a kayak guide.

As part of his release conditions, Julien Bouchard will not be able to be in contact with minors. He will also be prohibited from being present in a park or a place frequented by children, or from occupying a position that could allow him to be in a position of authority with children.

The case will return to court next March at the Longueuil courthouse.
