In the undergrowth of Vergongeat (Ain), they shine bright yellow. Daffodils, from the narcissus family, grow here in abundance. And if their scent is discreet, they spread like a perfume of good humor among walkers. Coming here as a family, at the end of winter, is a tradition that has become unavoidable. “From generation to generation, it was my parents who took me here the first time, who continue to come”said a walker.
This year, the undergrowth is particularly abundant. A rich soil, humidity all year round and above all a site respected by the pickers, who are careful not to pull out the bulbs. “Daffodils multiply by onions, so if we pull them out, next year there will be fewer and fewer”, indicates a woman. Good practices also recommend one to two bouquets maximum per person, but nothing prevents you from coming back several times.
