An equipment sterilization accident at the Metz-Thionville regional hospital center (CHR) is forcing the hospital to postpone several planned operations, France Bleu Lorraine Nord learned on Friday April 19, confirming information from the Lorraine Republican.

The hospital’s sterilization line was shut down after contamination. Hospital activity will be disrupted for several days. According to information from France Bleu Lorraine Nord, this is an incident involving a subcontracted service. The sterilization chain therefore finds itself at a standstill and forces the hospital to cancel interventions.

The nursing staff were informed of the situation by a message sent during the day. A crisis unit was activated in order to reorganize activity and ensure emergencies and daily care.
