France will be (very) hot. Météo France announced on Saturday July 9 that “high heat” were expected the following week. The forecaster anticipates “temperatures reaching 38°C from Monday [11 juillet]“. The heat will be “sustainable” and the peak is expected on the weekend of Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17.

The evolution in a heat wave remains “to be continued”specifies Météo France. “A heat wave is a period of intense and lasting heat, day and night, over a prolonged period (usually more than 3 days)”explains the agency on its website, noting that“it corresponds to the orange level of meteorological vigilance”.
“If the heat wave is acquired across the country, the intensity and especially the geographical extension are undecided”, warned Gaëtan Heymesforecasting engineer at Météo France. It calls for taking with caution of the “extreme models” shared by some commentators, related to uncertainties.
