Five protesters were arrested in connection with a stunt in which the main entrance to the office of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Privy Council in Ottawa was coated with pink paint Wednesday morning.
The gesture was announced almost an hour in advance by an environmental activist group Last Generation Canada, which claimed responsibility for the attack on social networks.
The latter were seated in the middle of Wellington Street, facing the offices, as shown in photos published by the group.
Officers from the Ottawa City Police Service were on site to assess the damage.
In an email also sent to members of the parliamentary press gallery, the group calls in particular for the creation of a national fire agency which would employ 50,000 firefighters to prevent forest fires.
They also want citizen assemblies with the force of law to tackle the ecological crisis and climate change.
