While farmers in several departments in the north of France are suffering from the congestion of rendering plants, a crisis meeting was held on Friday August 23 at the Vosges prefecture, France Bleu Sud Lorraine has learned.
An emergency collection of dead animals will be organized by a new company, while the usual company is not “practically no longer past” in the department since August 12. Atemax is in fact experiencing saturation difficulties due to excess animal mortality in recent weeks.
According to various Vosges agricultural leaders, several hundred animals are still on the department’s farms, “while they must be removed within 48 hours” explains Jérôme Mathieu, the president of the Vosges chamber of agriculture, to France Bleu.
