An educator was seriously injured on Wednesday June 5 in an accommodation center for unaccompanied minors in La Tour, near Viuz-en-Sallaz (Haute-Savoie), France Bleu Pays de Savoie learned from the Bonneville prosecutor. One of the minors from the center attacked him with a knife before setting the building on fire. The Bonneville company gendarmes managed to control him.
This establishment, managed by the Federation of Secular Works of Haute-Savoie, welcomes young refugees in particular. According to judicial sources at France Bleu Pays de Savoie, one of the minors became threatening in the middle of the morning. According to the first elements of the investigation, he first took this educator hostage before injuring him with a bladed weapon.
Warned very quickly on the spot, the gendarmes from the Bonneville brigade tried to control him by first using a Taser. Faced with the young man’s aggressiveness, the police had to use their firearms on several occasions.
The Bonneville public prosecutor went directly to the scene. According to her, the educator is very seriously injured. He was transported to the Annecy-Genevois hospital center. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy. The minor was also seriously injured. He was transferred to Geneva hospital.
The young man is suspected of having set fire to the accommodation center. The flames took away a large part of the building. The perimeter around the scene has been cordoned off. Large police forces and firefighters are still on site at midday. The Chambéry Research Section was seized of the investigation.
