an earthquake with aftershocks all over the world

It’s a bit like a cancer that would have metastases all over the planet. This war in Ukraine is having repercussions, even in countries that seem far removed from the conflict. Thursday, March 17, Mali has ordered the suspension of the broadcasting of RFI radio and the France 24 channel, due, according to the country’s authorities, to the broadcasting by these two media of “false allegations” of abuses committed by the Malian army and by the Russian private Wagner militia. This decision has no precedent in Mali, and serves as a reminder that France no longer has a place in the country.

Sf the Malian power allows itself this censorship of two French-speaking media, it is also to go in the direction of its new Russian ally and protector: it is because it knows that it has the support of Vladimir Poutine. The junta in power in Bamako has therefore decided to use the same methods: Putin bans the media that disturb him, the Malian president does the same.

We were very close to an Iranian nuclear agreement. It is a question of saving the famous pact of 2015, intended to prevent Tehran from acquiring atomic weapons. All that was missing was the Russian signature to get things done. But everything stopped last week. EIn fact, the guarantees demanded by Russia so that the sanctions aimed at it because of the war in Ukraine do not concern its cooperation with Tehran.

In the midst of the Ukrainian crisis, Russia this week said it understood North Korea’s decision to resume its missile launches at a steady pace. Unprecedented support from Russia to North Korea, an ally of China. Usually, we are rather in condemnation or silence.

In Venezuela, the war in Ukraine and the resulting oil crisis are seen as an opportunity to resell oil to the United States. Two facts have gone somewhat unnoticed: the first is the release by Venezuela of two Americans who were detained in the country, the second is this intervention by the spokesperson for the White House who had to speak on the subject by declaring that there were “no active discussions currently” between the two countries.

OAs you can see, this war in Ukraine is forcing everyone to reposition themselves on the world stage, with unexpected surprises and alliances. It would be hypocritical not to see it and not to take it into account: the world is being reshaped and recomposed, forcing everyone to choose their side.
