Life for Nice, an association of victims of the attack of July 14, 2016 in Nice, announced on Saturday February 10 to France Bleu Azur that it had filed a complaint against French rapper Freeze Corleone for “apology of terrorism”. The association criticizes the rapper for the lyrics of a song released Thursday.
In his new piece, titled Haaland and sung in a duet with the German rapper Luciano, the rapper Freeze Corleone pronounces these words: “Burberry like an English grandfather. I arrive in rap like a truck bombing hard on the…”. The rapper does not finish his sentence but, for the Life For Nice association, Freeze Corleone refers to the Promenade des Anglais.
“Obhorrent and scandalous”
For Jean-Claude Hubler, founding treasurer of the victims association Life for Nice, “It’s odious and scandalous”. He assures: “We will file a complaint against all people who insult the victims of the Nice attack.” According to him, the rapper “has crossed the line”. He adds : “There are limits to freedom of expression. 86 people died, it’s infamous. We must respect these victims.”
Friday evening, Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice, and Éric Ciotti, president of the Les Républicains party and deputy for Alpes-Maritimes, expressed their anger and indignation against the lyrics of this song.
